The aim of the Russian Music Theory Interest Group (SMT-Rus) is to discuss, promote, and engage with Russian theoretical traditions, which offer new approaches to musical meaning, harmony, voice leading, and form, with a special emphasis on topics little studied by Western scholars, including functional modality and tonal mutability. This interest group was inaugurated at the 2013 meeting of the Society for Music Theory in Charlotte, NC.

      Dear SMT-Rus members,

SMT plans to video-record all sessions this year, including interest groups. They will provide tripod and recording equipment in each room, with a rotating cast of volunteers to operate the cameras. We need to find a volunteer, a member of SMT-Rus who will attend the IG meeting (scheduled for Thursday 7:30 pm) and record it. They say no experience is necessary, so I presume there will be someone to show you what to do. If you are interested, could you (1) respond to this message below to let me know; (2) fill the form at this link: https://forms.gle/wbyKz9nJVVFmyepw9

If you want to discuss this with me first, please email ellen.bakulina@mcgill.ca

Thank you in advance to anyuone who will consider doing this!

      -Ellen Bakulina, chair, SMT-Rus
