Dear members of the list,
I just published my latest article, “The Split Anstieg: Initial Ascents Involving the Bass, and Their Consequences,” on my website, at . The article contains thorough tonal analyses of the Passepied from J.S. Bach G major Partita for Clavier, BWV 829, and of two movements attributed to Handel, from the keyboard Suite in G, HWV 441. As the title implies, my focus is on how the initial ascent in the first reprise affects the structure of the passages that ensue in the second reprise.
