I have worked in Museum Education at the Dallas Museum of Art and Nasher Sculpture Center, as well as having over fifteen years experience as a higher education instructor. I currently serve as Full-time Faculty of Art History and Art Appreciation at Brookhaven College. Additional projects include curatorial efforts, specifically on comics related exhibitions. Moreover, as an advocate for open-educational resources, I have contributed several times to the OER website Smarthistory.
As Curator of Academic Programs at the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art, I collaborate with faculty across all units of the university to foster interdisciplinary programs and to develop creative ways to join the museum with curricular activities. As Director of Education, I lead a team in developing engaging learning opportunities for exhibitions and in creating “always-on” educational experiences for students and community members, whenever they come to the museum. Our focus extends from visitor experience in the museum to outreach and partnerships that serve community needs. In addition to research and lectures on museum education, my teaching and research in American art have focused on turn-of-the-(twentieth)-century American artists abroad, American illustration and issues of race and whiteness.
John Randolph is a specialist in the intellectual and cultural history of the Russian Empire. His interests include the histories of literature, communication, and transportation. Currently, John is a faculty sponsor of the University of Illinois’s SourceLab initiative, a digital publishing program that sits at the intersection of DH, documentary editing, and classroom education.
Ph.D. in art history with a primary research focus on the visual culture of the late antique and early medieval Mediterranean. Committed to education through gallery teaching and research at The Barnes Foundation.
I’m the Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Humanities at Fisk University, having earned my Ph.D. in English from Vanderbilt University in 2020. As an interdisciplinary scholar of higher education, African American literature, politics, and intellectual history, my research focuses on leadership at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). My work has been featured in Diverse Issues in Higher Education, and I’ve given invited talks at a number of institutions, including Morehouse College and the Virginia Theological Seminary.
