AboutI’m a historian, with a particular interest in ecology, animal studies and the history of science, technology and medicine.
Over the last few years I’ve worked on developments in early nineteenth century zoology, mid nineteenth century physiological psychology, and the status of both media technologies and animal bodies in early twentieth century biology and medicine. My current work connects these themes to wider changes in imperial and economic organization in Britain during the first half of the twentieth century.
I completed my doctoral research at University College London, and have since held positions at the University of Leeds, the University of Oxford, and the Science Museum (London). I joined the University of Manchester as a Research Associate in 2017.
