AboutI have primarily worked on the 1st century AD unfinished poem, the Achilleid, by the Flavian poet Publius Papinius Statius. My doctoral research explored central aspects of the poem that lend themselves to a darker/tragic reading.
My main research interest lie within the literature of the Flavian period, but I am interested in Neronian texts and the Augustan poets (esp. Virgil and Ovid). I am also drawn to the reception and intersection of classical literature in the dramatists of the Spanish Golden Age (especially Tirso de Molina and Calderón de la Barca), as well as the use and reuse of Augustan topoi by Flemish humanists of the 16th Century (Dominicus Lampsonius).
