This chapter presents an elaboration on one section of my 2014 book, “Consumerism in the Ancient World: Imports and and Identity Construction.” It focuses on an analysis of Greek vases found in the south of France, dating to ca. 600-300 BCE. Variances in the consumption and use of Greek vases are mapped, quantified, and considered as evidence for differences in local meanings attributed to imports.
