AboutI am Professor for modern Jewish/non-Jewish relations at the University of Southampton and a member of the Parkes Institute. I received my PhD from the University of Tübingen in 1990 and my German habilitation from the University of Potsdam in 2003.My main areas of research are urban history and the cultural history of migration, specifically German-Jewish emigration after 1933. I am the editor of the journal Jewish Culture and History and co-editor of the open access journal Mobile Culture Studies. I have recently published a book on the emigration of a wine merchant’s family from Heilbronn, Germany, to Britain, based on family letters, and I am currently working on a study of memoirs of Berlin in emigrant correspondences.
