Claudio Palomares-Salas is Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies at Queen’s University, Canada. He is the author of The Spatiality of the Hispanic Avant-Garde: Ultraísmo and Estridentismo, 1918-1927 (2020); the novel El lugar más triste para soñar (2014); and the short stories Libélulas (2021), Igor (2019), and El mapa (2016). He has published widely on academic journals. His areas of specialization are the Hispanic avant-garde movements (1910-1927); twentieth-century Spanish and Latin American literature, music, film, and visual culture; and the New Song movements in Latin America (1960-1990), particularly Mexico. An active drummer in Montreal, he has toured and recorded with several artists in Canada and abroad.
