About

I am ABD in my PhD in English Literature at Drew University, and expect to finish in May 2013. My dissertation focuses on the poetry of Marianne Moore, Elizabeth Bishop and Sylvia Plath. I have an MA in English from SUNY-Binghamton with a certificate in Fiction Writing, which is comparable to an MFA – I taught creative writing classes, studied the teaching of creative writing, and completed a creative thesis. I also tutored at Marymount college from 2009-2012, and helped create creative writing courses (both fiction and poetry) and workshops for at-risk students in the graduate program at Rutgers.

I have been teaching since 1987. As my attached CV shows, I have taught a variety of college courses, including advanced and beginning composition, literature and fiction and poetry writing. I am currently teaching research and writing skills classes at York College. I have worked with populations ranging from pre-GED to graduate level and am extremely flexible in my teaching approach. I’ve also had many years’ experience working with students who have various ESL issues.

I am widely published and have helped found and run various literary publications and reading series. I published three books of poetry with well-known presses, most recently with Blazevox. I am also a former poetry editor for PingPong, a literary journal published by the Henry Miller Library of Big Sur.
