About

My research and teaching interests lie in the intersections of contemporary Latin American literature, the cultural politics of emotion, human rights narratives, ecocriticism, and critical theory. My book manuscript, Derechos humanos y las políticas de la empatía en la literatura latinoamericana del siglo XXI (Human Rights and the Politics of Empathy in 21st Century Latin American Literature),  explores how the work of Evelio Rosero, Juan Gabriel Vásquez, Alonso Sánchez Baute, Rodrigo Rey Rosa, Claudia Hernández, and Horacio Castellanos Moya offers new venues to explore empathy and human rights narratives in the context of Colombian and Central American post-conflict societies.  As part of this project, currently I am co-editing a volume on cultural production in Colombia in relation to human rights.
