About
Brent Lawrence is a composer from North Carolina. While a classically trained composer and scholar, jazz and folk traditions underpin his approach to music-making. His genre-bending compositional style is defined by its melodicism and close attention to harmonic color. Most recently, his work has centered around exploring new tonal and timbral ground on the electric guitar and how they intersect with other instruments and voices. Brent earned a PhD in Music Composition at the University of Oregon and holds a MMus from UNC School of the Arts. He currently teaches at his undergraduate alma mater, Pfeiffer University, in Misenheimer, NC. Education
