Founded in 1998, the Popular Music Interest Group is dedicated to promoting the scholarly study of popular music through methods including musical analysis and theory. Our goals include:
• Ensuring academic recognition for popular music research
• Encouraging more scholars of music theory to engage popular repertoires
• Encouraging scholars of popular music to make effective use of musical analysis and theory

On our Humanities Commons site, we rely on our members to help edit this resource — this cooperation will help continually improve the presence of popular music in our classrooms and scholarship. Many thanks!

Hey, PMIG friends! I am doing freelance editing work and wanted to offer these services to anyone in PMIG who might be interested. As a professor, I know how taxing it can be (especially during the semester) to get publications turned around. It can be challenging to edit anyway, but when you are stressed and pressed for time, the task can seem insurmountable.

I’m offering a range of services for music scholars, from formatting, copyediting, and content editing. I have extensive experience as an editor; I edited Mark J. Butler’s second manuscript and also served as an assistant editor with Music Theory Spectrum for three years. I would love to bring my experience to your project!

My rate depends on the services needed, so please reach out if you are interested in editorial help. You can email at cora.palfy[at]gmail.com for more info.

      Happy writing!
