This project invited all the community to participate in free art classes and opportunities to explore a variety of creative methods. It was implemented by the Playhouse Arts group to specifically support a mixed group of housed, housing insecure and unhoused folks.
Free food, water, dog supplies, music, device charging, bathrooms, and other daily essentials were available to scaffold a sense of safety and belonging. It was a space where people can came together and express themselves in the visual, the performing arts, writing, digital tools, group analysis of societal needs and strategies, dea boards and other inclusive decision making efforts.
The site became unavailable and we are pursuing a new location (Arcata, California) and funding, while we maintain community relationships through outreach, outdoor activities, and online resources.
