This group is dedicated to the compilation, transcription, and study of the letters written home by John McCaldin Loewenthal during travels in South America and the West Indies between 1889 and 1895. JMcC was a commercial traveller for the firm of Moore & Weinberg, selling linen and jute products to clients along the coast of South America. His letters provide first-hand accounts of the economics, politics, and history of the region.
