      Looking for an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment at a Tier One Research University?  The University of North Texas Libraries, a member of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), is seeking an Associate Dean for Public Services to lead an innovative group of staff and faculty librarians.  You’ll be joining a pioneering team committed to service, learning, academic success, and belonging.   We are looking for someone who:

      • Understands the role and value of Public Services in a research library
      • Can lead, delegate, and empower all levels of employees
      • Fosters cross-departmental/divisional collaboration
      • Has skills managing people from a variety of backgrounds while doing detailed activities
      • Can apply principles of accessibility, privacy, psychological safety, and UNT System Core Values

      We’ll need you to have:

      • An ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS degree (or equivalent)
      • At least 5 years of experience of leadership level roles in an academic institution
      • At least 5 years of supervisory experience
      • A demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve issues quickly and effectively, including handling complex and sensitive patron and staff issues with patience, diplomacy, respect, and discretion

      • Evidence of a strong commitment to public services and user-centered reference and instruction within an academic or research library setting
      • Awareness of established and emerging developments/trends in academic library services spaces, services, user engagement, and programming
      • Familiarity with best practices, trends, and assessment strategies related to public services
      • Demonstrated record of scholarly activities and participation in service equivalent to rank

      Salary dependent on qualifications with a $100,511 minimum for Assistant Librarian rank, $105,511 for Associate rank, $112,511 for Full Librarian rank; with rank and hiring salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.  Librarian rank will be recommended by the Library Personnel Affairs Committee through review of the selected candidate’s education, experience, scholarly and professional involvement, and service.   Flexible work arrangements, including hybrid-remote work, are available.
