      Dear colleagues,

Members of this group may be interested in the following Call for Papers.

CFP Conference: Uses of Modernism – Ghent, 20-22 September 2023

The conference Uses of Modernism brings together scholars from various disciplines and specialisations to reconsider the Modernist concept in the wake of the post-colonial and global turn in the humanities and social sciences. More specifically, it intends to investigate the category of Modernism from a global, interartistic, interdisciplinary perspective, as well as to discuss its contemporary uses and values within the on-going decanonization and decolonization of research and teaching agendas. The conference will be held at Ghent University in Belgium between 20 and 22 September 2023.

Keynote speakers: Prof. Sascha Bru (KU Leuven), Prof. Tsitsi Ella Jaji (Duke University) and Prof. Xudong Zhang (New York University)

Interested colleagues are invited to send their individual papers proposals, including a short bio and 300-word abstract, to modernism@ugent.be by 15 February 2023. For further information and the call for papers, please consult our website: https://www.modernism.ugent.be/

      Kind regards,

Guylian Nemegeer, on behalf of the organising committee
