      Hi all,

I am interested in proposing a just-in-time session for MLA 2021 concerning forest fires and ecological crisis. I think a round-table format on media, teaching, and the role of the humanities in teaching/researching ecological crisis would be timely and work well for these new sessions. My research is centered in South America and indigenous media production in the context of extraction and colonialism. Ideally I would love to get a panel together of peoples working/living through on the situation in the U.S. Pacific coast and southwest and really center on fire itself as agent of ecological crisis, change, and planetary agency. However, I am of course open to broader global perspectives as well. Please reach out to me at sam.g.johnson@miami.edu a.s.a.p. if interested in collaborating on this proposal!
