I’m a disabled independent scholar with multiple sclerosis (PhD, Musicology, Cornell, 2014). Many thanks to the HC team for promoting open access and diverse authorial voices on CORE! To further amplify diversity, I’m wondering if the HC team could develop a database/tag for deposits by authors who choose to self-identify as belonging to an underrepresented group. I know that many scholars are interested in reading more material by authors who are diverse in terms of race, disability, gender identity, etc. Therefore, it might be helpful to offer a way for CORE readers to search specifically for those authors who belong to traditionally marginalized demographics. I personally have done everything I can to tag my CORE deposits as the work of a disabled and unemployed author. It would be great to have a clear-cut system for marking a deposit as a “diversity deposit.” Just a thought, and thanks again for CORE!

Thank you, Tekla! I’m taking this request to the team for discussion. This is a really interesting idea for curating CORE.
