This week join us for the 2024 IAS/Kress L ecture in Torino!
The 13th IAS/Kress Lecture will be held on 28 June 2024 in Torino\, Italy at the Musei Reali di Torino. This year\, we are exc ited to welcome Dr Luis Javier Cuesta Hernández. Dr. Cuesta Hernández is th e Dean of Humanities and Communication at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City\, Mexico. For the IAS/Kress lecture\, Dr. Cuesta Hernández wil l present a paper on “Guarino Guarini and Early Modern Hispanic Americas: B ooks\, Images\, and Architecture between Torino and Mexico.” Dr. Cuesta Her nández’s broader research looks at the role of art and architecture in the Creole culture in Hispanic colonial America and this paper “aims to be part of the 400th anniversary of Guarino Guarini’s birth (1624–1683)…” and “try to reconstruct the possible ways that Guarini’s work followed in arriving to Early Modern Hispanic Americas.”
The lecture will take place at th e Musei Reali di Torino on Friday 28 June at 3:00pm and will be followed by a visit to the exhibition Guercino: Il mestiere del pittore & coc ktail reception.
