    Abstract:
This dissertation looks at the classification and categorisation of manga in public libraries in the UK, focusing on the SELMS consortium as a case study. Using a mixed-methods approach, a literature review and questionnaire was carried out, and data from library catalogues was collected and analysed. This was done in order to: identify how manga is classified and categorised across different public libraries; to investigate why manga is being classified and categorised in these ways, how these decisions are being made, and who is making them; and to suggest recommendations on how manga can be classified and categorised in the most appropriate way.
