- Abstract:
- The article discusses how the African continent's gradual splitting into two sub-continents is being exacerbated by climate change, leading to more frequent and intense geological activity in the East African Rift System. This activity could have devastating consequences for the people and wildlife of East Africa. The weight distribution shift caused by melting ice caps and increased rainfall and erosion in the region is putting pressure on the Earth's crust, increasing the risk of earthquakes and volcanic activity. To mitigate these potential impacts, it is crucial to continue monitoring the region's geological and climate conditions closely and implement measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
