    The story of Flores y Blancaflor has always been what would definitely be called a medieval bestseller. In fact, the story enjoyed such popularity throughout the Late Middle Ages and the Renaissance that there are today more than twelve different extant versions, surviving in approximately twenty manuscripts in almost every European language. This edition presents the remarkable love story between the Muslim prince and his Christian captive in its oldest Spanish version, while exploring the ties between all the European witnesses of this popular legend.
