- Abstract:
- The importance of this publication lies in the recovery and study of a musical heritage of extraordinary quality: unpublished musical works by the masters of the Royal Chapel of Madrid, the most important centre in Spain at the time, which until now had slept the sleep of oblivion. In addition to the musical transcriptions, this contribution is divided into several chapters that deal with fundamental aspects such as the historical context, the study of the organisation and function of the Royal Chapel in the context of the Madrid court, the biographies of the maestros of this palatine chapel during the 18th century, the analysis of each of the works selected and transcribed, the indication of the sources, the publishing criteria, the critical apparatus and the bibliography.
