    Abstract:
    Educational video games and their research and development became a thriving academic field in the past ten years, and by today numerous studies speak about the additional benefit of the immersion and emotional factors which they offer as added value as compared to traditional teaching. To discuss the chances and challenges of developing educational video games for Humanities teaching, this presentation introduces the example of The Durga Puja Mystery (https://blogs.helsinki.fi/durgapuja-the-videogame/). In our open access game, the player is subjected to educational tasks and investigative puzzles gradually informing about the highly popular Indian festival Durgapuja.
