- Abstract:
- This is a recording of a reading of Aristotle's De Anima by Richard Lee and Christopher P. Long that was originally presented at the Collegium Phaenomenologicum in Citta di Castello, Umbria, Italy, on July 10, 2018. The theme of the 2018 Collegium was Aristotle: Physis, Psyche, Anthropos, and Kristi Sweet read Chris Long's part at the conference in his absence. The recording here was made on August 10, 2019, in Okemos, Michigan. It recreates the performance of the paper which is presented in the form of a dialogue between two friends as we attempt to write an interpretation of the De Anima. In the process, we explore the meaning of soul as interchange, and come to recognize our friendship itself as a crucial example of the kind of interchange that characterizes the encounter between soul and world.
