Denae Dyck is a SSHRC-funded PhD Candidate in the Department of English at the University of Victoria. Her dissertation (supervised by Dr. Lisa Surridge) analyzes the impact of biblical higher criticism on Victorian literature, focusing on how debates about biblical interpretation generated dynamic models of writerly authority and readerly experience. She holds a research fellowship at the Centre for Studies in Religion and Society (2018-2019) at the University of Victoria and serves as a grad student representative for the Victorian Studies Association of Western Canada. Together with colleagues from the North American Victorian Studies Association, she is helping to start a new association caucus for scholars working on religion and spirituality in this historical field.
